Floor Supervisor

This job tastes great!  Bright, stimulating, and delicious gourmet retail store and recreational cooking school is looking for an individual who will help us drive our business forward. This passionate and driven individual will directly support the store manager with all business development initiatives, customer service, and staff leadership. If you find yourself to be preoccupied with all things food and have a retail background, we would love to speak with you!

Responsibilities include:

  • Motivate and lead staff on the retail floor in Customer Service
  • Execute all standard retail floor operations including serving as the leader in all transfer, special order, and complex POS transactions
  • Handle customer complaints and concerns
  • Issue refunds or compensation to customers in accordance with store return policy
  • Manage customer relations issues in conjunction with the store manager
  • Monitor and facilitate completion of tasks and assignments
  • Facilitate communication between event staff and event planner for private event
  • Serve as point person for scheduling concerns and alert coworkers as necessary regarding any last minute staffing issues

Requirements:

  • Ability to plan and organize work priorities
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Good judgment and analytical skills
  • Interest in cooking preferred
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
  • Previous retail experience required**

This is a full time position. Some evenings and weekends required.

Class Assistant/Sales Associate

The Chopping Block Cooking School seeks part-time class assistants/retail sales associates at our Merchandise Mart and Lincoln Square locations.

Sales associate candidates should have high customer service standards, past retail/sales experience and an outgoing personality. Business casual dress (at the Merchandise Mart) and flexible schedule is required.

Class assistant positions require evening and weekend work and a love of food. Some positions require cooking experience and uniforms.

Stocking-Receiving

Chopping Block Cooking School seeks part-time stocking/receiving people. Stocking requires lifting.

Cooking Instructor

The Chopping Block is seeking a professional chef to teach some of our popular cooking classes. Must have 3-5 years restaurant experience. Culinary degree, teaching experience and a working knowledge of ethnic cuisines a plus.

Flexible part time schedule includes nights and weekends. Humility and sense of humor required.
