Cooking since: I’ve been cooking with my mom and grandmother since I could walk! I've worked professionally in the industry since 2010.

Favorite childhood food experience: Making pasta with my grandmother and watching Alton Brown's "Good Eats" with my mom.

What made you want to become a chef? Cooking was always a passion of mine. I always worked in restaurants while I worked my through school, so it made sense to me to do what I love.

What is your signature dish? I love a good braise, and I love to make homemade hot sauces.

What are the 5 ingredients you can't live without? Good cheese, nice salt, butter, herbs and citrus!

What do you love about cooking? Being able to take something simple and turn it into something delicious!

When you're creating a new recipe, what influences and inspires you? Hands down, it's the season! I love cooking fresh produce when it’s in its prime.

What advice would you give a new cook? Don’t be afraid of messing things up! Experiment and taste as you go.

What are you doing when you're not cooking? Hanging out with my family, friends, and my cat and dog.

Describe your perfect evening. Hanging out at the lakefront.

If you had friends in from out of town, where would you take them to eat? The Publican or Le’s Pho in Uptown.

Where are you from? Glen Ellyn, Illinois

What was your favorite vacation? I’ve been to the west coast twice now. Once I drove with my best friend from San Francisco to Seattle in a week! 

What are your hobbies? I like gardening, making crafts and eating!

What is your favorite band? I love a lot of music. Lately, I've been into Chance the Rapper and Willie Nelson.

What is your favorite sports team? Do Iron Chefs count? If so, then Morimoto!

If you could have dinner with one person, who would it be? Alice Waters

What are your guilty pleasures? “If it gives me pleasure and doesn’t hurt anyone, then I feel no guilt.” But, mine would be "Keeping Up With The Kardashian’s." 

Who is your favorite celebrity chef? Nigella Lawson, Alice Waters, Anthony Bourdain

What 5 tools should every new cook have in the kitchen?

  • Dependable Chef's knife
  • Microplane
  • Stand mixer
  • Cast iron pan
  • Nice pair of tongs
