Virtual Classes

The Chopping Block is teaching you how to cook virtually! Virtual cooking has been part of our strategic planning for years, and we are excited to bring this curriculum to fruition. Get cooking in the comfort of your own kitchen with our virtual Cooking Demonstrations and Cook Along classes. Choose from:

Our Virtual Demonstration classes, via Zoom, are a fun opportunity to watch your chef in action. During class, your chef will teach you how to  prepare the dishes while you observe and take notes. Our Zoom moderator  will make sure your questions submitted through the chat option are answered during or after class. The recipe packet will be provided upon registration. Please note that some recipe steps may be prepared ahead due to the length of the class.

Our Virtual Cook Along classes, via Zoom, will have you and your chef cooking together in real time. We’ll provide you with the recipe packet and equipment list upon registration, so you’re prepared to get cooking, and when it’s over you’ll have a meal on the table! Our Zoom moderator will make sure your questions are answered live by the chef either during or at the end of class. 

Please note: all virtual class sales are final. All virtual students will receive a recording of the class within 48 hours of the class.

 

 

Virtual Cocktails: Classic Cocktails for a Modern Summer

Want to know how to make a perfect summertime cocktail? And, how to mix and stir like Logan Square mustacheo'd pros? Then this virtual cocktail class is for you! With the help of your spirits expert, Christophe Bakunas, you'll learn how to mix, shake and stir three classic and seasonal cocktails so you can create your own delicious drinks at home. Additionally, Christophe will teach you how to set up a bar with the essential bar tools and ingredients, the history of cocktails and punches, the differences of liquor and liqueur, and important bar lingo so you can sling for yourself, or order like a pro next time you are at the bar with friends or business clients.

Virtual Wine Tasting: Unlock the Secrets of Wine

Learn tasting techniques used by wine pros to get the most enjoyment from every sip in this virtual class.  This is a unique opportunity to explore each of wine's primary styles along with Advanced Sommelier Mary Ross, revealing the wine's face, nose, palate and finish as we go. We'll also practice wine vocabulary that you, your sommelier and wine merchant can understand and discuss wine and food pairing. Learn the secrets of successful flavor combinations, and learn how to make sense of your sense of taste! With stronger olfactory awareness, you can become a creative cook inspired by your own palate instead of following recipes to the letter.

In this interactive virtual demonstration class, we'll teach you the art of tweaking the five basic tastes - Salty, Sweet, Bitter, Sour and Umami - and how to use herbs, spices, oils, vinegars and aromatic ingredients to create a rich tapestry of cuisine limited only by your imagination.
