Virtual Classes

The Chopping Block is now offering virtual classes! Virtual cooking has been part of our strategic planning for years, and we are excited to bring this curriculum to fruition. Get cooking in the comfort of your own kitchen with our virtual Cooking Demonstrations and Cook Along classes. 

Our Virtual Demonstration classes, via Zoom, are a fun opportunity to watch your chef in action. During class, your chef will teach you how to  prepare the dishes while you observe and take notes. Our Zoom moderator  will make sure your questions submitted through the chat option are answered during or after class. The recipe packet will be provided upon registration. Please note that some recipe steps may be prepared ahead due to the length of the class.

Our Virtual Cook Along classes, via Zoom, will have you and your chef cooking together in real time. We’ll provide you with the recipe packet and equipment list upon registration, so you’re prepared to get cooking, and when it’s over you’ll have dinner on the table! Our Zoom moderator will make sure your questions are answered live by the chef either during or after class.

Virtual Journey to a Healthier You: 6-week Series

We know there’s not just one way to be healthy, and finding a successful healthy lifestyle can take some trial and error. There are many different opinions and outlooks when it comes to choosing the best route, and to help you through the process, we have created a special 6-week virtual class series designed to open your mind to many different concepts and practices.

Chopping Block chef and owner, Shelley Young, will be collaborating and co-teaching with a different guest each week who will bring their unique approach and strategic health-conscience ways to the table. Each week, a variety of recipes will be prepared by Shelley while our featured guest fields your questions and offers suggestions on how you can achieve your own personal goals. While some of our guests are nutritionists and registered dietitians, others have had their own successes on this journey and want to share their personal stories with you. Although there may be areas where our guests overlap in their approaches, each one has a unique perspective to share. Join us on this voyage as we take a close look at several points of view of healthy lifestyles, so you can then choose the best option for yourself.

Learn the secrets of successful flavor combinations, and learn how to make sense of your sense of taste! With stronger olfactory awareness, you can become a creative cook inspired by your own palate instead of following recipes to the letter.

In this interactive virtual demonstration class, we'll teach you the art of tweaking the five basic tastes - Salty, Sweet, Bitter, Sour and Umami - and how to use herbs, spices, oils, vinegars and aromatic ingredients to create a rich tapestry of cuisine limited only by your imagination.
