Pour a 1/4-inch layer of the batter in the prepared pie dish. Bake for about 10 minutes, until the batter is set.
Remove from the oven and sprinkle the strawberries over the batter. Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup of sugar over the strawberries and pour the remaining batter into the pan.
Bake on a parchment-lined sheet tray for an additional 45 minutes to 1 hour or until the clafoutis is puffed and golden brown.
Allow to cool for about 15 minutes. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve in wedges.
