Active Time: 20 minutes
Start to Finish: 1 hour, 15 minutes

For this recipe you’ll need:

  • 1 loaf (8 cups) challah bread, cut into 1-inch pieces and dried out for about 1 hour

  • 2 1/4 cups milk

  • 14-ounce can sweetened condensed milk

  • 12-ounce can evaporated milk

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 2 bananas, medium dice

  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • Pinch of salt

  • 9 egg yolks

  • Vanilla ice cream

    1. Preheat the oven to 375°, and butter a baking dish.

    2. In a large mixing bowl whisk together the milk, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, sugar, bananas, vanilla extract, cinnamon, salt and egg yolks.

    3. Stir in the cubed bread, and mix until well coated.

    4. Pour the custard mixture in the prepared baking dish, and bake on a parchment-lined sheet tray until the custard is set and the bread in middle of dish only slightly jiggles, about 40 minutes. Allow to cool for about 15 minutes.

    5. Serve the warm bread pudding with the ice cream.
