Truffle Honey and Truffle Salt: Two of our Favorite Foods

If you've ever stepped through the doors of The Chopping Block, you've probably sampled our famous popcorn and other fresh delicious treats featuring Truffled Salt. We sure do love this stuff around here, and often put it in the spotlight! This finishing salt is fabulous on pretty much everything – popcorn, roasted vegetables, potatoes, fish, scrambled eggs, and pastas. You name it, we’ve tried it! But we have another truffle product you may not have tried yet: Truffle Honey.

Truffle Salt and Honey

A delicious balance of honey and truffle combines sweet and savory to a whole new level. Our chefs say Truffle Honey pairs well with cheese or simply spread on toasted bread. I wanted to test this ingredient for myself by creating a tasty appetizer platter at one of our stores.

My go-to summer recipes include fresh basil and tomatoes, so a simple summer bruschetta was my inspiration for this recipe. To add a twist of flavor, I blended Truffle Honey with fresh ricotta cheese to top beautifully toasted baguettes, followed by a tomato basil blend. The verdict? Delicious.

Truffle Honey and Cheese Bruschetta

1 baguette, sliced into ½ inch thick rounds, oven toasted (substitute with crackers like Carr’s table water, gluten free crackers, or bread of choice)

Roma tomatoes, diced

Fresh basil, chiffonade

Cheese Spread:

1 ½ cups ricotta cheese

½ - 1 tablespoon truffle honey

Pinch of truffle salt (optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

Truffle Honey

Note: The cheese spread is forgiving, and can be customized to your level of truffle tolerance. The honey has a strong flavor, so start with less and add more as desired by tasting throughout your process. Spread cheese on the toasted bread or crackers then top with tomatoes and basil. Sprinkle with additional salt and pepper, if desired, and enjoy!
